![]() ![]() Our QOV news and quilts can be seen in our Newsletter every month. ![]() In 2022 YTD QGbtS delivered 109 Quilts of Valor a total of 60 were made during the year. Even some service dogs received matching quilts this year. Our QOV program has earned a statewide reputation for the numbers of quilts as well as the quality of the quilts presented. The cost is 24.99 + 5 media mail shipping. These quilts are presented to veterans in a special ceremony in which our quilters “wrap” the veterans with the quilts. QOVF Shop Live All-Star Quilts of Valor: 25 Patriotic Patterns from Star Designers QOVF is excited about the upcoming release of our new book, All-Star Quilts of Valor: 25 Patriotic Patterns from Star Designers The book is now available for purchase in our QOVF shop here. These quilts are made to the specifications requested by the national QOV organization. Our QOV committee communicates with the staff at the VA in South Florida to arrange the distribution of the quilts. Workshops are held monthly to encourage members of all abilities to assist in the piecing of a Quilt of Valor quilt top and pillowcase. Tellico Village QOV (TVQOV) group meets the 4th Monday of every month (except December) at 9 AM at the Chota Rec Center.Quilts of Valor (QOV) is an ongoing community outreach program that is a national initiative ( program encourages our members to participate in making quilts to be given to veterans who have returned and been affected by war. The quilt is our way to recognize the veteran’s service, dedication, and sacrifice he or she made for our country. The QOV group is a registered group member of QOVF and to date at December 2022 (including the original 85), we have awarded over 1,156 Quilts of Valor for the east Tennessee area and beyond. Our TVQOV group was formed that year and, since then, meets once a month to create the special “Thank You” quilts. We had our best response ever and 85 quilts were made and awarded.įrom that time on, a large number of quilters were hooked and wanted to continue the cause. After the competition, all the quilts were to be distributed to wounded or returning veterans. In June 2009 it was to create a patriotic Quilt of Valor which is a special, tangible way to say “Thank You for your Service”. The association between The Village Quilters and Quilts of Valor began with a challenge – the usual VQ guild challenge which is issued once every other year. That is why, unfortunately, we cannot present QOVs to family members or children of fallen service members or veterans – there are many other groups that work towards those missions. It's going to be an awesome task to do that when you consider that there are over 2 million active duty and reserve troops plus over 18 million veterans out there today.Ī Quilt of Valor is a one-time, life-time award to a living service member or Veteran. The mission of the Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war in any way with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
